Saturday 29 June 2019: The Fairfax Singers with soloist Maddy Podesta
Venue - The Methodist Church, Main Street, Burley in Wharfedale The Fairfax Singers is a mixed-voice choir of some 36 members who have been performing a variety of choral music since its foundation in 1996. Their repertoire includes folk songs, spirituals, classical and sacred music, as well as choral items by contemporary composers. For this concert their choice of music will include songs from Elgar, Dvorak, Roger Quilter, George Gershwin, Cole Porter and Carly Simon. The concert will also feature a delightful 15 year-old soprano, Maddy Podesta, as their guest. Maddy sings with the St. Oswalds, Guiseley, Church choir, where the choirs invaluable accompanist, Martin Baker is choir master and organist. This year he will accompany the massed choirs of the Voices of Craven in their celebration of music and song at Kirby Malham Church on July 6th.
The Musical Director for the choir, Dorothy Hawkshaw, headed choirs in various countries before returning to Guiseley, where she taught at, and was Head of Guiseley Music Centre for a total of 23 years.

Saturday 5 October 2019: Jazz concert with The Two Rivers Jazz Band, the Band Upstairs, and Chevin Jazz
Venue - Burley Social Club
The concert features three jazz bands all based within lower Wharfedale. The Two Rivers Jazz band is an eight piece band with a female vocalist who play well know jazz standards with a few surprises thrown in! The Band Upstairs have been playing together for several years and rehearse at Guiseley Factory Workers Club, although none of the group are factory workers! They will be bringing an eclectic selection of vocals and instrumentals to the concert with tunes ranging from Billie Holliday to Bob Dylan and The Cure. They'll also throw in a bit of trad and some jazz standards for good measure! Chevin Jazz are a more recent addition to the local jazz scene, but have already been asked to contribute to the forthcoming Ilkley Jazz Festival.
